Finally got around to finishing this. One of the best adaptations I've seen in recent times, especially given I ended up pretty negative on the manga (smart choice to streamline some of the incidental stuff that went by far too fast in it during the credits sequence). I almost cared about what was happening to everyone in broad strokes; an issue that about sums up my various individual frustrations with this work as a whole, not the least of which is most demonstrated in the stakes never feeling as severe as the situation is making it out to be, despite this being such a gorgeously animated production with compelling direction and VAs putting it all in. I think the decline started around episode 6, in what was ironically the most convincing arc. Feels like this arc cleanly presents all of my issues as well, not that I didn't just hate it regardless. This show near-continually affords true depth to its main cast (mostly Akira and Shizuka), and every antagonist is continually given the most rote, uninspiringly hate-fueled reason for their bad deeds that can be summarized as "Screw you I do what I want." With someone like Kosugi who we got to know as well as Akira, from living an egocentric and abusive life as a black company CEO to transplanting his same behavior and little bubble into the post-apocalypse, with every self-serving declaration of "help" underlined by every other venom-fueled spit, objectifying and womanizing behavior, or how he pitifully cried as the zombies r...

Akira Tendo (Eiji Akaso) works at an abusive company where he suffers endless late hours, power harassment from his boss, and illogical tasks. He spends his days feeling more dead than alive. One morning, the town is overtaken by zombies and the familiar landscape is already devastated. Seeing such destruction, Akira shouts with glee that he doesn’t need to go to the office anymore. Showing his innate positivity, Akira comes up with a list of 100 things he wants to do before he becomes a zombie, including cleaning his home and camping on his balcony and sets out to complete his bucket list.
